Jerry & the Pelican System (Polish Jazz Vol 83)

This is the newest debut entries in the famed record series Polish Jazz released by Polskie Nagrania/Warner Music Poland. The 24-year old saxophonist Jerzy Mączyński is now a student of Berklee College of Music in Valencia. The daring and innovative music concept of his group reflects the ambitions and aspirations of the youngest generation of the Polish jazz scene.

The leader of Jerry & The Pelican System - Jerzy Mączyński - is mainly inspired by the freedom and majesty of pelicans, by their fascinating multi-colored and independent nature. Still, the pelican’s predilection for risk-taking is also reflected in the music of the quintet. Risk-taking is their way of speaking in their own voice, which is that of a new generation, bravely redefining the concept of jazz.
