'BLUES FOR ALLAH' is the Grateful Dead's 8th album and the 3rd released on their own label, Grateful Dead Records. In their 10th year, the Grateful Dead recorded one of their most ambitious albums since the late 1960s – with songwriting and tracks that were as boundless, jam-packed and psychedelic as the music they created in 1968-1969. Both Side 1 and Side 2 feature instrumental passages that show a band digging deep into their creative core – with tracks like "Slipknot!", "King Solomon's Marbles", "Stronger Than Dirt Or Milkin' The Turkey", "Sage & Spirit" and parts of the 'Blues For Allah' suite being some of the wildest instrumental pieces the band has ever recorded in the studio. Add to that masterpieces like "Help On The Way", "Franklin's Tower", "The Music Never Stopped" and "Crazy Fingers", and you have one of the Grateful Dead's most cohesive and timeless albums - an album that, in sound and vision, points forward rather than backward.
