Philosophy of Religion

Philosophy of Religion can be adequately defined through its disciplines of metaphysics, epistemology and ethics. As Keith E. Yandell writes in his book 'Philosophy of Religion a contemporary introduction', 'the disciplines are enterprises of constructing and assessing what there is. What knowledge is and how it can be attained. What makes actions right or wrong, what makes persons good or evil, what possesses intrinsic, and what sort of life is worthy living and how these matters are related?' Broadly speaking, Philosophy of Religion seeks to answer the central and fundamental question on belief systems of diverse religions. Apparently all religions plug their belief systems on a supreme person, object, event or ideology. Christian belief system for example is based on the supreme existence of God who is omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscience etc. Philosophy of Religion therefore acts as a bridge to conclusively inform the diverse belief systems in matters of understanding and accommodating different viewpoints, matters of criticizing and critiquing. It also facilitates tools that are very useful in terms of teaching, informing and more importantly conversion.
