Leading and Managing Change in the Local Church

The purpose of this study was to investigate the issue of leading and managing change in the local church. The researcher assumed that the success story of Nairobi Chapel was as a result of effective leadership that effectively led and managed change. In this regard he decided to use its success story to facilitate this research. The researcher attempted to find answers to four questions. The first question was "What changes has Nairobi Chapel successfully effected in the last three years?" The second question was "How were these changes effected?" The third question was "What challenges has Nairobi Chapel encountered in her effort to effect these changes?" The final question was "How were these challenges overcome?" Furthermore the researcher presented a questionnaire and an interview schedule to the key ministry leaders and the associate pastor to the founder of Nairobi Chapel respectively. These leaders are agents of change by both privilege and convenience. After interacting with the leaders the data was analyzed. The findings revealed that Nairobi Chapel group of churches story was not only a success story but also an eye opener to other local churches.
