Economy of Montenegro from XIX to XXI century - an overview

The monograph "Economy of Montenegro from XIX to XXI century - an overview", presents an overview of economic development, economic structure and basic features of the economy of Montenegro since its first official international recognition as an independent country in 1878. Montenegro emerged as a state in the ninth century, building a medieval statehood, which was interrupted several times. At the end of the 15th century, Montenegro was occupied by Ottoman Empire, but at the beginning of the 18th century restored independence. Although free, with internationally recognized borders and independent dynastic authority, it received official international recognition only in 1878 at the Berlin Congress. From 1918 to 1941, Montenegro was part of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenians (later the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, from 1929), while from 1945 to 1991 of the Socialistic Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. From 1992 to 2006, formed a federal state with Serbia, which in 2003 was transformed into a state union. At referendum in 2006, it restored state independence.
