Hildebertus
Hildebert of Lavardin (1056-1133), bishop of Le Mans, was one of the most influential of the classical versifiers of the twelfth century. His best works are considered his shorter poems, first edited by A. B. Scott in the Bibliotheca Teubneriana in 1969. This new edition contains a corrected text with stylistic and metrical indices. The introduction, which attempts to establish a canon of genuine poems on the basis of eighteen principal manuscripts, has been revised in light of subsequent work on Hildebert. This revised edition also lists over one hundred manuscripts which contain poems by, or attributed to, Hildebert for the first time.
