Curious Quinn, a sophomore at Friendly High, rekindles a friendship with Michelle Martin, her childhood best friend from grammar school. Michelle explains that she is seeing fellow Fly Betty and friend Connie Warmack's boyfriend Danny Leads behind her back, and she's worried that her popular boyfriend Austin Meeks, as well as Connie, will find out about it and cause problems. Curious is the only person who knows of Michelle and Danny's secret love affair. When Michelle is found murdered at Fort Washington Park, right away, Curious suspects her abusive boyfriend Austin had something to do with it. But deadly secrets involving the Fly Betty's, a popular clique at Friendly, is revealed, and this leads Curious into a deadly showdown, fighting for her life on the Potomac River, right in front of the two-hundred-year-old historical Fort, Fort Warburton
