Corporate Governance Practices in Indian Banking Sector

This book is the research outcome of the thesis entitled Corporate Governance: Issues & Challenges In Indian Banking Sector which was meant for the award of Doctor of Literature Degree (D. Litt) and submitted to the Department of Commerce and Management Studies at Fakir Mohan University, Balasore- Odisha. Post New Industrial Policy (NEP 1992), the Liberalisation, Privatisation, and globalisation have accentuated the importance of the concept globally. Indian economy has been very supportive to be reckoned as one of the world's promising and emerging economy as per the United Nations Survey. The banks are very much instrumental in spearheading the drive. In banking parlance, Corporate Governance refers to conducting the affairs of a banking organisation in a manner that gives a fair deal to all the stakeholders i.e. shareholders, bank customers, regulatory authority, employees and society at large. Based on the research carried in the beacon light of this, this book makes an attempt to highlight issues, challenges, perception level of different managers in selected banks, and the relationship between corporate governance and performance of banks. However, the inference drawn in the study is not a generalised one but can be used by the various stakeholders judiciously.
