First Generation Normal is a story of growing up free range with eccentric parents and learning how to navigate a variety of unusual situations and characters. "We had the freedom to live in our natural environment without eyes glaring down upon us, dictating our every move. We learned to be independent because, by and large, people did not do things for us," so writes the author about her upbringing.
