There are four teenagers, all of them being best friends for nine years. Good so far? They've all got secrets. Like everybody. All of those secrets are closely related - sewn together by the same thread. Well, maybe this is starting to get a little weird... Meet Skylar Montez, a sarcastic fourteen-year-old orphan, trying to survive freshman year in high school. But it's not going to be that hard, now is it? Not when you've got three other best friends. Introducing Rukayah Lawrence. She's fifteen, and she's a complete nerd. Oh, and don't forget the animal lover part. She, as all nerds should be, is super smart.

Especially when she's being compared to her twin brother in the family. Jordan Lawrence, your typical guy friend; equally amazing at school and sports. Kind. Funny. But not like Luke Geller. He's actually your typical jock - but he's not as shallow. He's kind and funny too and is popular throughout the school for his wit, not his brains- wait, he has brains?
