The Tortoise and The Hare

Characters: 10 main roles, doubling possible / ExtrasComedy, Elementary SchoolsExterior Set, during one scene the action takes place in front of the curtains.

Flash the Hare wants to prove that he is the fastest animal in the forest. He only has one more forest animal to beat in a race so he can claim his title: Theodore the Tortoise. Flash is so confident that he can beat Theodore that he doesn't prepare for the race. Furthermore, he brags to anyone who will listen that he is going to beat Theo. You can imagine Flash's embarrassment when Theo beats him in the race in front of all of the other forest animals. Flash learns that it isn't smart to brag or make fun of others. Theo learns that believing in himself is also very important.

Based on one of Aesop's fables, The Tortoise and the Hare teaches children the importance of humility, not underestimating someone, and believing in themselves. A fun and educational play for children ages 5 - 9. There is a great deal of audience participation in this play, keeping them involved and interested.

Because of the minimal production requirements, this makes an excellent play for any group to perform.
